Many women throughout Vietnam have been wearing Ao dai, or Vietnamese traditional attire, during the “Vietnam Ao dai week”, which runs from March 1 to 8.

The “Vietnam Ao dai week” is held on the occasion of the 112th anniversary of International Women's Day to celebrate the 1982 anniversary of the Hai Ba Trung’s uprising against Chinese invaders and welcome the 13th National Women’s Congress for the period 2022 - 2027, which will take place from March 9 to 11 March 2022 in Hanoi.

It is a campaign held by the Vietnam Central Women’s Union to praise the beauty of Vietnamese women in traditional attire.

According to the campaign organizers, the Ao dai is not only a great work of art and a national beauty but also a symbol of the identity and spirit of Vietnamese women. For such great meaning, Vietnamese women usually wear the Ao dai on important occasions. In response to the program, Hanoi female officials, civil servants, and businesswomen from Women's Unions at all levels also dress in Ao dai at work.
