The parade is the culmination of the anniversary of the victory that reverberated around the world.

About 12,000 people, including military and police, marched through Dien Bien Stadium this morning in a parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory [May 7, 1954 - 2024] in the northern province of Dien Bien.

The parade saw the attendance of Vietnam's top leaders, former leaders, senior officials and foreign guests, including Sébastien Lecornu, Minister of the French Armed Forces.

The Dien Bien Phu campaign, which lasted from March 13 to May 7, 1954, ended the nine-year war of resistance against the French colonialists. It led to the signing of the Geneva Accords two months later and ended the war in Indochina.
