Tabebuia rosea adds vibrancy to Hanoi’s new residential area

After the ‘fever’ of taking pictures with the brilliant yellow Caribbean trumpet trees, flower lovers in Hanoi are excited to ‘hunt’ beautiful photos of Tabebuia rosea flowers in bloom, which dress up roads in the capital in light pink color.

Thanks to the tree planting strategy for the period 2021-2025 in Hanoi, the profile of the capital city has completely changed to more brilliant and romantic.

Replacing the familiar plants such as Hoa Phuong or Flamboyant tree, Bang Lang or crape-myrtle, and Xa cu or Khaya senegalensis are many other colorful tropical flowering trees planted on the new roads in the city.

The vibrant yellow of Caribbean trumpet from Brazil, the deep pink of Sakura from Japan, or the pale pink and purple of Tabebuia Rosea enrich the natural scenery of the capital in late spring and early summer.

This romantically beautiful Tabebuia Rosea or “Phong Linh hong” is grown in the new urban area in Co Nhue Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi. The simple yet beautiful pale pink flowers adorn the exterior of these modern villas.
Tabebuia Rosea is native to Southern Mexico, Venezuela, and Ecuador. The tree has a height of 1m to 15m with a wide canopy and gorgeous tiny flowers.
The gentleness and purity of the flowers freshen the scenery of the new urban area with many concrete buildings.
Tabebuia Rosea flowers look like small bells, growing in clusters of four to seven blossoms. The blooming season starts in April and lasts until the end of June every year. Towards the end of the season, the pink-purple flower will change its color to pale pink.
The special feature of the Tabebuia Rosea tree is that all the leaves will fall off in the blooming season, leaving on the branches only the clusters of beautiful purple-pink flowers.
According to photographers, Tabebuia Rosea flowers are at their most vibrant in the early morning when the petals begin to bloom. The flowers will fade at noon, then wither in the afternoon.
Nguyen Van Thang, a local resident, said that he is very proud of this row of Tabebuia Rosea trees. “Although they are not as vibrant as the yellow Caribbean trumpet flowers, the purple-pink color of Tabebuia Rosea flowers still enchant the soul of any visitor to the residential area,” he said.
