Rice fields at the outskirts of Hanoi seen from above – A green picture of countryside
According to statistics, Hanoi currently has about 97,800 ha of rice fields. In order to improve the value of agricultural production, especially not to waste these areas, over the past time, the city government has focused on directing localities to boost the restructure of crops and livestock.
With an awareness that raising the value of agricultural production is an important solution to the implementation of the cross-cutting goal of the new rural construction programme, in recent years, the city government has focused on directing localities to effectively restructure the plants grown on rice fields. The right policy has contributed to the establishment of specialised farming areas, concentrating on fruit trees, vegetables and aquaculture that helps increase productivity and quality of agricultural products, creating a breakthrough in agricultural production. This policy also brings high economic efficiency to producers, meeting the needs of the market today.
The intensive farming areas are forming more and more in the localities. Along with that is the link in production getting more and more popular, contributing to creating sustainable outputs for agricultural products. On average, the converted models yield a value from VND330 million to VND1.2 billion/ha (US$14.200-51.800). As a result, the value of agricultural production in Hanoi has reached more than VND265 million/ha ($11.400).
Seen from above, the suburban fields of Hanoi always give people an interesting feeling like a vivid transformation picture. The picture of the countryside in each season has a different beautiful colour: peaceful green when the rice grows up and brilliantly yellow in the ripening season. The green colour of the endless rice field does not make the village more beautiful, but it also reflects the fullness of the farmers who work hard on the fields.
