Hanoi to host 2020 folk culture festival on December 11
The festival is expected to lure numerous visitors and local residents.

The Festival of Popular Culture in Contemporary Life 2020 will be held from December 11 to 13 around Hoan Kiem lake, Hanoi, with the expectation of promoting traditional cultural values.

 This event aims to honor and introduce Hanoi's contemporary folk and cultural heritage to local residents and visitors, helping preserve and promote the values of traditional folk cultural heritage in contemporary society.

In the framework of the festival, there will be three major activities to be held including the display and introduction of handicraft products and creative arts, space for folk art in contemporary life, and the show on intangible cultural heritage in contemporary life.
 At the handicraft space, craftsmen from traditional handicraft villages will demonstrate their skills and showcase their products with innovative designs, promoting their contemporary values.
 The folk-art spacewill introduce various types of folk culture rich in history and art.
 Among them, the artisans in Xuan La village of Phu Xuyen district will demonstrate the art of making To hea popular, traditional toy for Vietnamese children and a symbol of Mid-Autumn Festival and many other products made of bamboo and  rattan, paper fan, conical hat and new paintings made from pieces of silk and fabric. 

Visitors will also enjoy a fashion show of traditional dress the Dinh Lang Viet club.

 The whole space is creatively designed to help visitors experience and elaborate the handicrafts with artisans’ assistance.
 Local residents walk around the Hoan Kiem lake.
 Particularly, a show of intangible cultural heritage in contemporary life will be held at 19:00 on December 12 at the Ly Thai To Statue area.
 The program will introduce different types of intangible cultural heritages in Hanoi, performed by artisans in Hanoi such as: ca tru (ceremonial singing) from Quoc Oai district, cheo Tau folk singing from Dan Phuong district, Trong Quan singing of Phuc Tho district, among others.
 Stages are prepared for the opening day of the festival on December 11.
 The Festival of Folk Culture in Contemporary Life is expected to bring interesting things to the capital’s people and visitors who visit the walking space this weekend.
 The final stages are to be ready for the opening day of the festival on December 11.
 This is also part of practical activities to fulfill Hanoi's commitment when joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
