Hanoi team wins 2020 National Fencing Championship
Vietnam National Fencing Championship 2020 officially closed in November 27 at Trinh Hoai Duc Stadium with final bouts in the two disciplines of men-team’s sabre and women-team’s foil.

Taking place from November 21 to 27, the Vietnam National Fencing Championship 2020 featured 110 fencers from seven teams to face off in 10 categories. Hanoi team was the largest to join the championship with 50 fencers.

Beside some strong contenders like Vu Thanh An, Nguyen Thi Nhu Hoa, Hanoi also sent many young talented athletes such as Nguyen Phuong Kim, Nguyen Van Hai, Nguyen Thi Trang to the competition.

On the last day of the competition, Hanoi team competed in men-team’s sabre and women-team’s foil. With much superiority over its opponents, the female squad from Hanoi defeated the team from the northern province of Hai Duong to won gold medal with a score of 45-28.

Meanwhile, with the outstanding performance of Nguyen Xuan Loi, To Duc Anh, Nguyen Van Quyet and Vu Thanh An, the Hanoi team thrashed the People's Police team to take the final gold medal with a score of 45 - 21.

During the previous competition days, the Hanoi team also won the highest titles in six categories, including: men's individual foil, women's foil, women's epee, men's saber, men's team foil and women's team epée.

After seven days of the competition, the National Fencing Championship 2020 successfully concluded with the first position belonged to Hanoi team who won eight among ten gold medals. the remaining two went to teams from Hai Phong and Bac Ninh.

Through the National Fencing Championship 2020, highest performance athletes will be selected to the national teams to take part in in international tournaments, especially the 31st SEA Games that will take place in Hanoi next year.

Although exerting lots of efforts, foil fencing female team from Hai Duong succumbed to the Hanoi female team and eventually won the silver medal.

 With the participation of many outstanding fencing athletes, Hanoi team outscored  their opponents.

 Hanoi and People’s Police teams played the final competition on women-team’s Épée fencing.

Through the tournament, the organizers will select high-performance fencers to compete in international tournaments, especially the 31st SEA Games 2021 that will be held in Hanoi next year.
