Seen as a social problem, photographer Nhat Le conveyed clear messages through 17 artworks on the child marriage issue.

The Gallery Exhibition themed “Children are not Brides” took place at the Vincom Mega Mall Royal City (72 Nguyen Trai street, Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi).

Seen as a social problem, photographer Nhat Le depicted the child marriage issue through 17 artworks with clear messages, including reason for child marriage, the lack of awareness of people involved in the issue, and the consequences.

With an abstract art style, Nhat Le’s works maintain its balance between reality and creativity that help deliver the message behind each work to visitors.

The exhibition is part of the project “Children are not Brides” initiated by the non-governmental organization Good Neighbors International in Vietnam, targeting to prevent child marriage situation in the northern mountain province of Ha Giang in particular, and of Vietnam in general.

Child marriage forces children to bear adult’s responsibilities at the early age, making it hard for them to focus on their own future and career.

Unsound customs, such as “girls have to marry”, or the thinking that those against marriage means they are against the tradition.

In a survey, around 41.8% children do not understand child marriage.
Children go into a marriage with an empty soul and awareness.

Child marriage is not only a burden for those who are directly involved, but also for the whole society.
Child marriage could lead to miscarriage.
Most families with child marriage are under poverty line.
Child marriage and consanguineous marriage would lead to severe consequences of premature birth or congenital disorder.
