Funeral of former Deputy PM Truong Vinh Trong held

Trong passed away on February 19 due to serious illness and old age. He held the post of Deputy Prime Minister from June 2006 to August 2011 and served as deputy of the National Assembly in the 8th and 11th tenure.

Funeral of Vietnam’s former Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong took place on February 21 in both Hanoi and his home town, Ben Tre province in the Mekong Delta.

Attending the funeral included top Vietnamese leaders namely Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Permanent Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong, Head of the Central Organization Commission Pham Minh Chinh, Tran Thanh Man, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Central Committee, among others.

The CPV’s Secretary General and State President Nguyen Phu Trong sent wreath to the funeral in commemoration of the deceased.

 Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. 

Representative of the government, the National Assembly, the State, the Fatherland Front, and many other central agencies also attended the funeral in Hanoi.

 Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh delivers eulogy. 

Truong Vinh Trong, 79, was former deputy PM from June 2006 to August 2011. He was former member of the Politburo, the country’s most powerful body, and former head of the Central Commission for Internal Affairs.

Funeral to Deputy PM Truong Vinh Trong is the most honorable model for leaders. 

Hanoi’s top leaders attending the funeral included Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh, Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, and Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong.

 The former deputy PM will be burried in his hometwown.
