The Vietnam Agricultural Digital Transformation International Forum 2021 will open on September 16, with a view to discussing key issues and strategies about Vietnam’s agriculture in the regional and world context.
The forum, themed "Keeping up with market trends, promoting the role to support the economy in the context of the pandemic and post-Covid-19 pandemic", will be jointly held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association (VIDA), and the VnExpress e-newspaper.
It will feature public-private policy dialogue activities between the Government and related parties to create opportunities to approach modern technology models, digital experiences, and discussion on how Vietnamese agricultural products can be exported more effectively.
The Vietnamese Agriculture Virtual International Exhibition is also one of the outstanding activities of the forum. |
In the context of the strong impact from the industrial revolution 4.0 and the pivot in development goals, the agriculture sector is demonstrating its role as "the backbone of the economy". In particular, when facing the challenges of increasingly severe impacts of climate change and the highly complicated, unpredictable spread of the pandemic, the agriculture sector has proved its importance in ensuring food security in the country and maintaining the growth pace of the country's economy.
Tran Thanh Huan, director-general of MoFA’s Department of Foreign Affairs expected the forum would be an ideal platform for leading agricultural experts to share their successful experiences in this sector, especially in hi-tech farming.
“Vietnam’s agricultural firms may expand cooperation and further attract investment into the field via foreign partnership,” Huan said.

The forum is set to divide into two symposium sessions and a plenary session. Two symposium sessions with the theme "Improving the Ecosystem for Vietnam's Agriculture Digital Transformation" and "Developing Human Resources to Meet the Needs of Vietnam's Agricultural Digitalization" are expected to draw the participation of experts and representatives of domestic and international businesses, to discuss and share experiences, propose directions and solutions towards the goal of digital transformation for Vietnam's agriculture industry.
The plenary session on the same day with the theme "Keeping up With Market Trends, Promoting the Role to Support the Economy in the Context of the Pandemic And Post-Covid-19 Pandemic" will discuss the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in Vietnam and breakthrough opportunities for Vietnamese agriculture, thereby providing solutions and resources for Vietnam's high-tech farming.
Under the "National Digital Transformation Program to 2025, with a vision to 2035" approved by the Prime Minister on June 3, 2020, agriculture is one of the industries and fields that need to be prioritized for digital transformation. Accordingly, the Prime Minister issued concrete guidance on the development of high-tech agriculture in the direction of focusing on smart agriculture and precise agriculture, increasing the proportion of digital agriculture in the economy. |
