The city has stepped up efforts to promote OCOP items through trade fairs and supermarket chains.

The "OCOP Fair 2024" will take place at Cau Giay Park in Cau Giay District from December 20 to 23, and at Dang Xa Park in Gia Lam District from December 26 to 29.

This event is part of a series of activities organized by the Hanoi Promotion Agency (HPA) to connect, promote, and sell goods produced under the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program.

The fair aims to introduce quality OCOP products to consumers. It serves as a platform for trade promotion, supporting the introduction and market access of OCOP products and local specialties, and boosting year-end consumption.

A key goal of the fair is to raise consumer awareness of Vietnamese product quality and brands, effectively promoting the “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods” campaign.

The fair will feature approximately 150 to 200 booths showcasing agricultural products, OCOP specialties, regional delicacies, and traditional handicrafts from Hanoi and other provinces. There will also be a booth for export-oriented products, a food area, and decorative displays related to agriculture, rural tourism, and traditional handicrafts.

Companies, cooperatives, and production units will also be present at the expo, along with the Departments of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Trade Promotion Agencies from several provinces. Among the products they will display are textiles, leather goods, consumer goods, household goods, handicrafts, agricultural products, food, and beverages.

In addition, the agency will collaborate with relevant agencies to organize the 2024 Consumer Promotion Fair titled "Exciting Shopping" from December 27 to 30 at Phung Khac Khoan Flower Garden Square in Lien Quan Town, Thach That District, Hanoi.

The event will feature about 140 to 180 stalls showcasing agricultural products, OCOP specialties, and traditional handicrafts from the city and other regions, as well as trade promotion and a food court. Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience culinary activities, tea ceremonies and traditional crafts.

Hanoi's trade promotion agencies have taken special measures to help businesses and producers promote OCOP products. Nguyen The Hiep, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said they regularly review the list of OCOP products to connect with distribution channels such as supermarkets and grocery chains and provide information to businesses for trade promotion activities.

They have intensified the promotion of OCOP production areas and products through mass media and enhanced the use of information technology in the production and consumption of OCOP products, including the implementation of traceability systems and links to e-commerce platforms.

"In the long term, we will continue to effectively organize trade promotion activities, trade conferences, fairs, exhibitions and product weeks to connect OCOP producers with consumers and distribution channels," Hiep stressed.

Saigon Co.op is one of the key players actively helping businesses find markets for OCOP products. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, Director of Co.op Mart Ha Dong supermarket, said the company has participated in local trade promotion events and seeks to expand its supply sources based on consumer demand. They have also supported businesses, cooperatives, farmers and local producers by providing guidelines on the necessary conditions to quickly integrate OCOP products into their retail system.

Currently, Saigon Co.op's retail network offers over 130 OCOP products, including fruits, poultry eggs, honey, bird's nest soup, various vegetable powders, coconut sugar, pepper, dong noodles, rice paper, and cashews from cooperatives in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Kien Giang, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, and Thai Nguyen.

Over the past five years, the city's OCOP program has fostered a robust startup movement that has contributed to a shift in production toward larger-scale commodity production linked to local supply chains.

The city has intensified efforts to promote OCOP products through various fairs and supermarket chains.

In Hanoi, 29 out of 30 districts have evaluated and classified over 2,769 OCOP products. These include six products with five stars, 12 with potential for five stars, 1,485 with four stars, and 1,266 with three stars.
