The event is part of the "Vietnamese Prefer to Use Vietnamese Goods" campaign.

The week-long event to promote the consumption of OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, local handicrafts, and safe agricultural products runs on December 18-22 in Thach That District.

The event featured 50 booths with over 500 OCOP items and regional specialties from Hanoi and around the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on December 19, Nguyen Van Chi, Deputy Head of the Hanoi Coordination Office for the New Rural Development Program, said the event helps promote networking, trade promotion, and production development among businesses, cooperatives, and traditional crafts households. "It aims to create momentum for brand building, innovation, and sustainable development," he said.

Under the partnership between the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Thach That District People's Committee, residents are given an opportunity to access quality and safe OCOP products, promoting consumption and sustainable growth of the capital's agricultural sector.

At the same time, cooperatives and related stakeholders can connect with skilled artisans, young designers, and local industries to meet market demands, said Phung Khac Son, Deputy Chairman of the Thach That District People's Committee.

The Thach That District Women's Union will also showcase its members' products at traditional craft villages during the event.

Hanoi is home to 1,350 craft villages, including 334 recognized traditional craft villages. The city has 1,090 active agricultural cooperatives, 1,695 farms, and 149 production-consumption chains, according to the Hanoi Coordination Office for the New Rural Development Program.

Since 2019, the city has certified 3,021 OCOP products, including six five-star products, 16 potential five-star products, 1,538 four-star products, and 1,461 three-star products.

This year, Hanoi plans to classify about 500 additional products to help OCOP program members improve the products' quality and meet the growing demands with an eye on exports.
