In addition to ensuring high voter turnout, protecting public health remains a priority during the upcoming general election.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council and head of the city’s Election Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan gave the remarks on May 21 as he led an inspection team to check the preparation process for elections of deputies for the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 period at Thanh Xuan and Nam Tu Liem districts.
At Thanh Xuan district, Tuan and other delegates visited polling stations at Thuong Dinh, Thanh Xuan Trung, and Thanh Xuan Nam districts, and those in My Dinh 1, My Dinh 2, and Cau Dien at Nam Tu Liem district.
During these visits, Tuan applauded local authorities’ efforts in preparing for the elections in line with strict measures against Covid-19.

“With two days left to the election day [May 23], all preparation process should be completed within 24 hours,” said Tuan, urging all localities to review the list of voters and encourage the public to exercise their rights and responsibilities in voting for worthy candidates.
“The authorities should anticipate all situations that may happen during the election to prepare an appropriate response plan,” he noted.

At a separate meeting on the same day, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh requested the city’s apparatus to stay highly focused “for the election day to be a festive occasion for the people.”
“It is imperative not to let infection spreading among administrative units, especially in constituencies,” Anh urged.
Hanoi’s mayor called for leaders of districts and wards to stand by and timely action to deal with any emergency. “I will be ready at any time,” Anh said.
Anh instructed the municipal Department of Health to closely follow the pandemic situation and review voting scenarios in each constituency to ensure utmost safety.
