Ha Long Bay reopens for international tourists

Ha Long Bay welcomed nearly 4,000 visitors, mostly international tourists, on September 10. Despite widespread destruction, including the sinking of 26 tourist boats, efforts to restore operations allowed sightseeing activities to resume, marking a rapid recovery for one of Vietnam's most iconic destinations.

Concert funds help typhoon victims and showcase Vietnam's beauty

String quartet BOND will perform in Vietnam on October 5. All ticket sales from "BOND Live In Vietnam" will be donated to the victims of Typhoon Yagi, according to the organisers. BOND will also produce a music video to promote the beauty of Vietnam. Other international acts such as Westlife, Katherine Jenkins and Les Musiciens du Louvre have performed in Vietnam this year, highlighting the country as an emerging destination for world-class cultural performances.

Vietnamese football tournament held in Japan to support Typhoon Yagi victims

The Vietnamese community in the Chubu and Kyushu regions of Japan held two football tournaments on September 15 to raise funds to support the victims of Typhoon Yagi. The tournaments attracted 32 teams made up of Vietnamese living and working in the two regions. The top three teams will take part in the Vietnamese Community Football Tournament in Japan, to be held in the capital Tokyo at the end of November. The amount of money raised was around US$2,500.

Australia boosts agricultural exports to Vietnam

Australia has just agreed to export plums to Vietnam as part of a two-way agricultural market access deal. Peaches and nectarines have previously been supplied to the Southeast Asian country. Two-way trade between Vietnam and Australia reached US$8.23 billion between January and July.

Vietnamese lacquer exhibition held in France

An exhibition showcasing Vietnamese lacquer paintings and products was held in France on September 14-15. The exhibition displayed 40 works by typical Vietnamese lacquer painters and artists, including Thanh Chuong, Phan Cam Thuong, Le Van Hai, Nguyen Truong Linh. The pieces of art have unique aesthetic value and magical beauty through magnificent layers of paint, showcasing the talent and sophistication of Vietnamese artists.

Vietnam makes history at Chess Olympiad 2024

Vietnam won all five opening rounds for the first time at the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad Budapest 2024. Specifically, the men's team defeated Liechtenstein, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Poland. Vietnam is now ranked third in the competition behind India and China. The 100-year-old tournament, which took place in Budapest, Hungary, from September 10-23, attracted 196 delegations and brought together the world's best players.

Vietnam among the world's top cybersecurity performers with near-perfect score

Vietnam has scored 99.74 points on the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI), placing it among the world's top nations with a perfect score in four out of five criteria, including legal, technical, organizational and collaborative capabilities. This strong performance highlights Vietnam's ongoing efforts in cybersecurity, and reflects global progress in combating evolving cyber threats.
