A delegation of distinguished overseas Vietnamese on January 18 participated in the Local Connection program in the northern province of Hung Yen.

This is part of the Homeland Spring 2025, the annual event is devoted to the overseas Vietnamese community, fostering stronger ties between those living abroad and their homeland.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Le Huy, said that the Party and State consider overseas Vietnamese an integral part and vital resource of the nation. Their contributions strengthen cooperation between Vietnam and other countries worldwide.

Highlighting the province’s socio-economic achievements in 2024, Huy said Hung Yen holds substantial potential for development and investment.

He outlined the province’s development plan for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050. By 2030, Hung Yen is expected to transform into a modern industrial province with modern infrastructure, robust industrial growth, and sustainable development through green and circular economic models while preserving cultural heritage.

Regarding the people, Hung Yen natives currently live, study, and work across 33 countries and territories worldwide. These individuals uphold local laws, maintain strong ties with their homeland, and participate in humanitarian activities. Their contributions include building rural infrastructure, schools, kindergartens, and cultural institutions, elevating the province’s image, supporting socio-economic development.

The official affirmed the province’s commitment to providing optimal conditions for overseas Vietnamese to reconnect with their homeland while encouraging them to preserve their cultural traditions.

At the event, Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese introduced the distinguished overseas Vietnamese attending the program and stressed their prominence in politics, economics, culture, and academia, as well as their leadership in overseas associations.

She underscored the priority of fostering a robust overseas Vietnamese community while harnessing their intellectual and financial resources to contribute to Vietnam’s development. She highlighted the country’s unique opportunities for entering a new era of national growth.

Le Thi Thu Hang commended Hung Yen’s achievements in foreign affairs, particularly its initiatives to strengthen ties with overseas Vietnamese. She also praised the province’s engagement with overseas communities, which fosters unity and creates opportunities for contributions to national and provincial development.

Hang hoped that Hung Yen would continue collaborating closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to enhance efforts for overseas communities. She encouraged innovative approaches to addressing their aspirations.

She also anticipated that distinguished delegates and local businesses would explore investment opportunities in Hung Yen after the meeting. With their talent, dedication, and love for their homeland, overseas Vietnamese could contribute significantly to Vietnam’s and Hung Yen’s development. Additionally, they could serve as cultural ambassadors, promoting Hung Yen’s development potential to overseas communities and connecting them with suitable local projects.

During the meeting, overseas Vietnamese representatives admired Hung Yen’s impressive progress in recent years. They proposed potential investment opportunities in industrial parks, craft villages, and agriculture.

Earlier in the day, the delegation visited Da Hoa Temple in Khoai Chau District dedicated to Saint Chu Dong Tu and Princess Tien Dung, as well as the Vinhomes Ocean Park 2 urban area.
