Prime Minister highlights commitment to innovation at WEF Davos 2025

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reaffirmed Vietnam's commitment to innovation, digital transformation, sustainable development and independent foreign policy at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos 2025 on January 21. He highlighted Vietnam as an attractive investment destination due to its economic achievements and pioneering policies.

Chairman of National Assembly visits Cantho University, highlights its role in development

Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man visited Cantho University on January 22, underscoring its vital role in the development of the Mekong Delta. In 2024, the university enrolled 9,583 full-time undergraduate students, 1,122 master's students, 78 doctoral students, and 2,784 distance-learning students. With a vision for 2045, the university aims to become a key innovation hub, driving high-quality human resources and economic growth in the region.

Vietnam welcomes Gaza ceasefire, urges sustained peace efforts

Dang Hoang Giang, Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, welcomed the ceasefire in Gaza and praised international efforts to promote peace. Stressing respect for international law, protection of civilians and humanitarian assistance, Vietnam reiterated its support for a two-state solution based on the pre-1967 borders, Giang said. The country called for urgent efforts to rebuild Gaza and achieve a lasting peace.

Vietnam supports ruling on Quang Nam massacre compensation
Vietnam has welcomed a Seoul court ruling ordering South Korea to compensate Nguyen Thi Thanh, who lost her family in the 1968 massacre in Quang Nam, a central province of Vietnam. The massacre was part of broader atrocities committed by South Korean troops during the Vietnam War. Thanh expressed gratitude and pledged to help other victims.

Vietnam exports 1.4 million tons of coffee in 2024 

The General Department of Customs reported that Vietnam exported nearly 1.4 million tons of coffee in 2024, generating US$5.6 billion at an average price of US$4,200 per ton. In early 2025, exports reached 74,000 tons, earning nearly US$400 million, with a 41% increase in value. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development aims to produce 2 million tons of coffee this year.

Vietnam's rice exports to Singapore to rise 28% in 2024

Singapore's Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority reported that Vietnam exported about US$95 million worth of rice to Singapore in 2024, up 28% from 2023. Vietnam remained the third largest rice exporter to Singapore with a market share of 28%. Businesses are encouraged to step up promotional efforts and leverage Singapore's role as a trade hub.

National Geographic ranks Vietnam as a top family travel destination

National Geographic has ranked Vietnam as one of the top 10 ideal family travel destinations for 2025, highlighting its slow travel experiences. The suggested itinerary includes exploring the cultural heritage of Hanoi, the stunning landscapes of Ha Long Bay, and the rich history of Hue.
