Vietnam steps up fight against transnational drug trafficking

Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security has dismantled several international drug trafficking rings and seized more than 211 kg of synthetic drugs and 550 kg of cannabis in two operations targeting cross-border smuggling from Laos, Cambodia and other countries. Ten suspects, including key leaders, were arrested. Investigations revealed sophisticated methods using digital tools and transport services. 

VinaPhone rolls out 5G coverage nationwide

VinaPhone has officially launched 5G services nationwide, covering all 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam. Operating in the 3.7-3.8 GHz band, speeds reach 1.5 Gbps, 10-20 times faster than 4G. Focused on economic hubs, the service offers enhanced connectivity for individuals, businesses and industries without requiring new subscriptions, supporting Vietnam's digital transformation and technological innovation.

Domestic travel trends shift to peaceful landscapes

Vietnamese travellers are increasingly looking for serene domestic destinations with stunning natural landscapes, reflecting a major travel trend in 2025. Google's Year in Search 2024 and Traveloka's APAC Tourism Report highlight a surge in interest in domestic tourism, with locations such as Vinh Hy Bay and Hoi An. This shift reflects Vietnam's growing focus on cultural exploration and peaceful getaways, driven by affordability and the influence of social media.

Phu Quoc tourism revenue to soar in 2024
Phu Quoc's tourism revenue will exceed VND21.2 trillion (US$862 million) in 2024, welcoming more than 5.9 million visitors, including 962,449 international tourists. Direct flights from new markets and luxury airlines have boosted high-spending arrivals. Home to 86% of Kien Giang's tourism projects, the island is strengthening its global appeal, highlighted by Sun Group's Aspira Tower project, which is set to enhance Phu Quoc's status as a premier destination.

Asian Vovinam Championship honors Vietnam's martial art
The 5th Asian Vovinam Championship 2024 is now underway in Bali, Indonesia until December 21, with Vietnam's 39-member team taking part. The event features 285 athletes and officials from 15 countries across four Asian regions competing in 31 medal events. Vietnam's Vovinam has strong links with Bali, where the traditional Vietnamese martial art was introduced to Indonesia in 2008 and which will host the 2025 World Championships.

Public performances revive Hanoi's cultural heritage
The "Memories Within Me" arts program is now underway in Hanoi's United Park, blending traditional and modern performances. Hosted by the Youth Theater, it revived the iconic Gach Stage and captivated audiences with cultural storytelling and music. The event aimed to preserve Hanoi's heritage, attract visitors, and inspire community engagement through free public performances.
