Vietnamese girls warmly welcome at home after historical advancement to FIFA World Cup

Vietnam were undaunted and pushed forward with their positive play rewarded with the victory

Vietnamese female players were warmly when reaching the homeland on February 10, a few days after they booked a place at the Women’s World Cup 2023.

Head Coach Mai Duc Chung and the team were received by leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

Bamboo Airways brought the team home. The Vietnamese leisure airline will accompany the team during the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.

On February 6, Vietnam defeated Chinese Taipei 2-1 in the Women’s Asian Cup playoffs to attend the World Cup for the first time.

The team’s advancement to the World Cup is remarkable as the team has suffered from Covid-19 during the training period in Spain just before the tournament in India opened.
