Prime Minister gives banking sector tasks for 2025
Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chinh wished the State Bank of Vietnam and the banking sector a Happy New Year on February 3. He urged the banking sector to continue implementing fiscal and monetary policies in a prudent, flexible, and effective manner, and to foster a strong financial and banking ecosystem while maintaining macroeconomic stability.
Vietnam sees strong growth in tourism during Tet 2025
Vietnam saw 12.5 million domestic tourists during Tet holiday, a 19% increase from 2024, while international arrivals grew 30% thanks to visa reforms and market shifts. Vietnam aims for 23 million international and 130 million domestic tourists in 2025, with a 17% revenue increase to VND1,050 trillion ($43.5 billion), contributing 6-8% to GDP and creating 5.5 million jobs.

Road accidents and fatalities drop during Tet 2025
Vietnam saw an 11% decrease in road accident emergencies and a 28.9% drop in fatalities during the Tet holiday compared to 2024. A total of 24,122 road accidents were reported, with 160 deaths.
Vietnam's carbon credit market shows strong growth
Voluntary carbon credit market prices reached $20 per credit, well above the average of $3-5 over the past 20 years, in line with the completion of the regulatory framework and the goal of achieving net zero by 2050. With its strengths in agriculture and forestry, Vietnam has the potential to become one of the world's largest carbon sinks. Companies such as Idemitsu Kosan, Sagri (Japan), and VinaCapital are making strong efforts to produce carbon credits.
Vietnam's lung cancer diagnosis and treatment process meets global standards
The National Lung Hospital reports that it has provided medical services to over 100,000 patients, successfully performed 5,000 surgeries, and conducted three lung transplants in 2024. The hospital's lung cancer diagnosis and treatment procedures are currently on par with developed countries in the world. It will continue to transfer organ transplantation technology and aim to become a regional lung transplantation center serving both domestic and international patients by 2025.
Tan Son Nhat sees heavy passenger traffic during Tet holiday
Tan Son Nhat International Airport is expected to handle nearly 146,500 passengers on 968 flights on February 3 (the sixth day of Tet 2025). The airport handled an estimated more than 4 million passengers during the peak Tet period (January 14-February 12), an increase of 5.36% from 2024, with flights up 6.25%.
