More than 600 employees trained to operate Hanoi’s first skytrain

The Cat Linh – Ha Dong elevated railway is one of the key public transportation projects in Hanoi and is the first project of its kind in the city as well as in Vietnam.
More than 600 workers have been trained on the simulations of train cabin, rains, foggy weather, fire or accidents, in an effort of guarantee safety and smooth operation before the 13 km long Cat Linh- Ha Dong railway is put into commercial operation in Hanoi, Vnexpress reported.

From mid-May to the beginning of June, the employees have carried out drills on 21 situations such as evacuating passengers, handling exceeded number of commuters, rescuing, among others.
During the exercises, Vietnamese trainees and Chinese experts examined and concluded the pros and cons to help the staff enhance their abilities to manage accidents as well as in checking up the effectiveness of equipment and devices installed across the route.
Total staff of the project includes 86 people working at the driver center, of them,  46 main drivers and 13 assistant drivers, test drivers and engineers, signal monitors and staff on duty.
Workers in the operation center, ticketing, signaling, electricity, among others are also rehearsing hard.
Earlier, these drivers had been trained at China’s Beijing railway routes for one year, gaining driving experience of at least 5,000 km to 20,000 km of railways in China.
“We combine on-site driving and driving on simulated cabin in order to operate the railway more fluently and to improve the ability to handle unexpected situations as the project prepares to undertake its commercial run,” driver Tran Thanh Long said.
According to a representative from the general contractor of the project, most of the staff and workers gained standard skills and abilities, ensuring that they can serve the commercial operation immediately.
The Cat Linh – Ha Dong elevated railway is one of the key public transportation projects in Hanoi and is the first project of its kind in the city as well as in Vietnam.
From December 2018, the railway has tested all of its 13 trains with a speed of 35 km per hour.
The project was said to put into commercial operation on April 30 by a transport ministry leader, however it failed due to uncompleted acceptance procedures and the exact time for the commercial run has not been revealed yet.
