The public wants the amended Capital Law and the General Planning for the Development of Hanoi to be approved as soon as possible to create momentum for the city to move forward.

Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue expects that the amended Capital Law, the General Planning of Hanoi, and the project for the implementation of the General Planning will be completed and submitted to the meeting of the National Assembly in May.

Speaking at a meeting with the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee on  March 5, Hue said that the amended Capital Law was a difficult task for legislators to fulfill as it required the consideration of many other laws and regulations.

He suggested that the National Assembly would work with legislators in Hanoi to review and adjust the draft law so that the best version could be submitted to the National Assembly for discussion and approval.

Regarding the general planning of the capital and its implementation project, Hue said the two proposals will be subject to revision by national legislators before being approved by the Prime Minister.

According to the Chairman of the National Assembly, the authorities and the people of Hanoi all expect the amended Capital Law, the Hanoi General Planning for 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050, and its implementation project to 2045 with a vision to 2065 to be approved at the upcoming session of the National Assembly.

He said that the approval of the three documents will make a solid legal setting that facilitates the future growth of the capital city.

He said the amended Capital Law and the two other documents would enable Hanoi to maximize its potential for socio-economic growth; live up to expectations of becoming the country's political, cultural, and economic hub; become a green, smart, mobile, and sustainable metropolis; and drive the growth of the Red River Delta region, the Northern Economic Zone and the entire nation.
