The Cat Linh - Ha Dong line is 13 kilometers long and connects the western districts with the city center. It passes through densely populated areas such as Ha Dong along Hanoi's main thoroughfares such as Nguyen Trai and Tran Phu, helping passengers avoid Tet-related traffic jams.
Meanwhile, the 12.5-kilometer Nhon-Hanoi Station Line, part of which is underground, provides a link between the western suburbs and downtown Hanoi. Major stops include Cau Giay, Kim Ma and Hanoi Railway Station. This line is particularly convenient for those traveling to commercial centers, cultural landmarks, and educational institutions.
Hanoi Metro highlighted that during Tet, train schedules will be adjusted to accommodate increased travel. Both lines will operate extended hours, including late-night and early-morning services on critical days, to ensure the convenience of passengers for family visits, festive shopping and cultural activities.
There are several advantages to operating these rail lines. First, they provide a reliable and environmentally friendly mode of transportation, reducing dependence on private vehicles and air pollution. Secondly, they help to reduce road congestion, especially on routes that are prone to heavy traffic during Tet. Finally, the lines' connections to major transport hubs, such as My Dinh and Giap Bat bus stations, allow passengers to seamlessly transfer to other modes of transportation.
Since their inauguration, these light rail lines have seen a steady increase in ridership. The Cat Linh - Ha Dong line serves over 30,000 passengers daily, reflecting its importance in Hanoi's public transportation network.
Hanoi Metro aims to provide a smooth and sustainable travel experience, contributing to a festive and stress-free holiday for all by ensuring uninterrupted operations during Tet.
