As of 2015, six heritages in Dong Da district have been restored and repaired with total expenditure of about VND130 billion (US$5.6 million).

Dong Da, an inner city district in Hanoi and home to as many as 76 cultural and historical heritages and 16 traditional festivals, is doing as much as it can to preserve and promote heritage values in the area.

Of the amount, two are national special heritages including the Temple of Literature and Dong Da Mound; 49 national heritages; 15 municipal heritages and another 10 unclassified. They are considered the spiritual bridges that link the past with the present, the tradition with the modernity.

However, due to the impacts of time and the fast urbanization, many heritages have been worn out and suffered alterations despite the management, preservation and restoration efforts over the past years.

To improve the situation, the district decided to distribute 3,000 leaflets to introduce some typical heritages, install boards featuring codes of conduct in every historical and cultural site and hold some conferences to raise awareness on protecting the sites in the area.

Besides, the district increased the allocation of fund to the management activities with an aim of preserving, restoring and promoting the heritage values. The fund was partly mobilized from private resources.

On the other hand, students in the district are encouraged to visit, study and take care of the iconic heritages of the district to gain more knowledge of their values.
