During 2019, the association has coordinated with Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam and Hanoi municipalities to organize annual cultural and sporting events to celebrate National Day of the two countries, thus enhancing people-to-people ties, said Do Tien Dinh, vice president of the association at a meeting last weekend.

Members of the association at the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade have held a spate of activities such as trade promotion, participation in trade fairs in Chinese provinces to boost trade exchange and explore business opportunities in China, Dinh added.

The Hanoi government has established friendship ties with China’s Beijing, Sichuan, Tianjin, Yunnan and Nanning city. Hanoi has also sent several official delegations for field study to Qinghai.

In addition, a cooperation plan on urban greens between Hanoi and Kunming, Yunnan province has yielded good results.

Speaking about the association’s plans next year, Truong Minh Tien, permanent vice president cum general secretary of the association, said that it will hold and join cultural, arts and sporting events to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations in January 2020.

China is now Vietnam's biggest trading partner with bilateral trade poised to reach US$150 billion this year. The Northeast Asian country is also the largest tourist source of Vietnam.
