Hanoi exchanges socio-economic development experience with Africa’s localities

Hanoi is willing to share experience with African experts in socio-economic development, social welfare, rural building, environmental pollution, solving land disputes and ensuring rural security, and practices in developing the private economic sector.
Hanoi always stands ready to share experience with Africa’s localities in socio-economic development, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said while receiving former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo, former Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn Boshe and a group of senior researchers from Africa in Hanoi on May 2.

Chairman Chung praised the delegation’s program of exchanging development experiences with ASEAN countries and Asia. 

With the ongoing globalization and the Industrial Revolution 4.0, Hanoi has achieved positive development results thanks to active learning lessons from numerous countries, Chung added.

As Vietnam’s leading economic hub, Hanoi maintained an average 7.34% growth in gross regional domestic product per year, the chairman stressed, adding that the capital city’s socio-economic development after 30 years of Doi moi (reform) has made great gains, with income per capita rising from US$200 in 1986 to US$5,100 presently.

Chung also highlighted that the capital city is a safe destination because its authority always pays attention to ensuring security for foreign affairs as well as political, trade, economic and cultural activities.

Hanoi city is willing to share experience with African experts in socio-economic development, social welfare, rural building, environmental pollution, solving land disputes and ensuring rural security, and practices in developing the private economic sector.

For his part, former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo said that Hanoi visit is part of the delegation’s trip to some Asian countries, to complete the book “Can Africa be the next Asia” funded by South Africa’s Brenthurst Foundation.

Olusegun Obasanjo expressed his desire to learn about important decisions made in each development milestone of Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular, which focuses on how to make decisions and the lessons learned. 

The African delegation also wants learn about the fields of transportation, environment, policy management, crime prevention, among others, Olusegun Obasanjo said. hoping to acquire Hanoi's experiences for socio-economic development in Africa.
