Hanoi has implemented many preferential mechanisms and policies to support investors such as supporting vocational training for employees and building houses for workers.
Hanoi always attaches importance to bilateral cooperation with Singapore, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said while hosting Teo Siong Seng, chairman of the Singapore Business Federation on July 16.

Briefing the guest on the socio-economic situation of the capital in recent years, Chung said for the past ten years, the city’s annual average GDP growth has reached 7.41%, per capita income has been US$5,200, and the city welcomes some 6.5 million international arrivals per year.

The mayor added that in the current development period, Hanoi focuses on three breakthroughs which are developing transport infrastructure, building e-government as a foundation for a smart city, training high-quality human resources with the focus to train 300,000 information technology engineers by 2025.

Referring to the challenges that Hanoi faces, Chung said that the capital is trying to handle water and air pollution, traffic congestion and fire prevention. Therefore, Hanoi always attaches great importance to cooperation with foreign enterprises, including those from Singapore with experience in handling the issues.

Besides, Hanoi’s authority annually organizes an investment promotion conference to call for investment in smart city building, Chung stressed.

He expects Singapore investors to join smart city projects in Hanoi, including air quality control, water source monitoring, fire prevention as well as investment in smart transportation, tourism cooperation, shopping mall construction, among others.

Hanoi has implemented many preferential mechanisms and policies to support investors such as supporting  vocational training for employees and building houses for workers and so on.

For his part, Teo Siong Seng emphasized that Singaporean businesses not only look for opportunities in the time ahead and increase investment but also want to help enterprises in Hanoi to develop and expand their business, contributing to promoting strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.

Teo Siong Seng and Singaporean groups’ leaders also invited Hanoi’s leaders to visit Singapore in September on the occasion of the Formula 1 race (F1) in the island country to exchange and share experiences, in preparation for the first race to be held in Hanoi in April 2020.
