Vietnam's Covid-19 hot spots put under control
Anh Kiet - Cong Tho 14:28, 2020/08/25
Since a new wave of domestic infections returned on July 25, Vietnam has recorded 672 locally transmissions, most linked to the hot spot in the beach city of Danang.

The Covid-19 pandemic situation in Vietnam’s three hardest hit localities is being put under control, Kinh Te & Do Thi reported, citing the National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Contro on August 24.

The three localities include the central city of Danang, neighboring Quang Nam province and the northern province of Hai Duong.

Based on the anti-pandemic efforts made in recent months, the Ministry of Health will compile the experiences in a manual to be used in drills that will be organized in all localities to improve preparedness for possible outbreaks.

Besides, the health ministry, in co-ordination with localities and state agencies, will issue guidelines to co-exist safely with the pandemic, with the first one to focus on schools.

The ministry will continue to review machines in medical facilities along with biological research projects to raise the effectiveness of Covid-19 testing and diagnosis.

The steering committee asked all organizations and the media to continue conveying health advisories to the public, including refraining from going outside for non-essential purposes, wearing masks in public, frequently washing hands with soaps or sanitizing solution, and not letting their guard down against the virus.

Moreover, the steering committee asked the Ministry of Health to closely monitor the research and production of Covid-19 vaccines around the world, and facilitate domestic coronavirus vaccine projects.

At the meeting, Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Son, deputy minister of Public Security, said that many localities have not closely followed the standard procedures for registering special entries of foreign experts, highly skilled workers and investors, the few exceptions to the entry ban foreigner from Vietnam.

There have been cases taking advantage of the policy to smuggle “ineligible” foreigners into Vietnam, Son noted.

The steering committee, therefore, demanded more vigilance and stricter management of all entries and exits given the complex developments of the pandemic.

Since a new wave of domestic infections returned on July 25, Vietnam has recorded 672 locally transmissions, most linked to the outbreak in Danang city where social distancing has been imposed indefinitely.

Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally now stands at 1,022, with 406 active cases and 588 recoveries. The country has reported 27 deaths due to the pandemic.
