The People`s Committee of Da Lat City, in Vietnam`s Central Highlands Lam Dong province, has announced a plan to boost hi-tech agriculture in 2016-2020.
According to the plan, Da Lat will develop its comprehensive and sustainable hi-tech agriculture with multi-sectoral approach to become the top vegetable production hub of the Southeast Asia and Vietnam's top agricultural tourist destination.

Specifically, Da Lat will see some 7,000 hectares, or 65-70 percent, of its agricultural land applied with high technology by 2020, bringing agricultural production value to 4.346 trillion Vietnamese dong (194.88 million U.S. dollars) a year.

According to Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country is forecast to earn 2.5-2.6 billion U.S. dollars from exports of vegetables and fruits in 2016.
Local experts said potentials of Vietnamese vegetables and fruits remain high. If the country can well manage quality of input materials, the export revenue of the item can reach 5 billion U.S. dollars a year in the future.
