The Hanoitimes - The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) in Hanoi released Vietnam’s 2012 White Book on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
MIC Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong said Vietnam’s 2012 White Book on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), gives a real panorama of how the sector has developed in terms of ICT infrastructure, IT technology, post and telecommunications, IT application, ICT human resources and information security.
According to the book, published annually since 2009, the number of mobile phone and internet subscribers rose by 14 percent and 14.2 percent respectively in 2011. More than 16 million people also used 3G mobile networks, representing more than 80 percent of all broadband internet users in the country.
In 2011, postal services earned over US$246.2 million, out of a total ICT turnover of US$13.7 billion, a year on year rise of 79 percent.
