Efforts will focus on working with security and defence agencies to monitor, detect and respond quickly to cyber threats.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked ministries, sectors, and localities to take drastic measures to ensure information security.

The move comes after many information incidents have been reported recently, causing property loss and damage to the reputation of organizations and businesses, as well as national cybersecurity, particularly the presence of ransomware.

The PM asked the cybersecurity units to carry out an overall review and assessment of the information security of their information systems by 30 April. If any vulnerabilities are found, the units must immediately take corrective measures, especially for information systems that store and process personal information and personal data.

The PM called on ministers, Chairpersons of People’s Committees of provinces and cities, and enterprises to take responsibility if the information systems under their management fail to ensure information security, resulting in serious incidents.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has been asked to strengthen coordination between the media and ministries, sectors, and localities to boost the dissemination of cybersecurity legislation and to raise public awareness about ensuring information security.

The ministry has also been tasked with leading an assessment of the cybersecurity of public bodies and organizational information systems by April 11. The results will be reported to the Prime Minister by May 10.

The Ministries of Public Security and National Defence have been asked to improve information security in line with their assigned functions and to coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communications to inspect and deal with any breaches.

"Efforts will focus on cooperation with security and defense agencies to detect and respond promptly to cyber threats. The results of these collaborative efforts will be disseminated through mass media to raise public awareness of cyber security issues," the Prime Minister said.
