Traditional flea market festival to take place at year's end
A flea market festival will be held at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Dong Mo, Son Tay City from December 30 to January 1, 2024. The event aims to showcase spring cultural values in mountainous areas inhabited by ethnic minorities.
It will gather nearly 20 ethnic communities from 11 localities across the country, including Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hoa Binh, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, and Soc Trang. Flea market is a place where people from different ethnic groups meet and exchange items. A local flea market is often held once or twice a month.

Banh cuon (Vietnamese steamed rice rolls), hu tieu (flat rice noodle), bun cha (rice noodles with grilled pork), xoi (Vietnamese sticky rice), and pho (Vietnamese noodles with beef or chicken) are the five must-try dishes in Vietnam, according to the Michelin Guide.
The cuisine website lists the five dishes representing Vietnam's rich history and diverse cultural aspects, which could amaze any visitor.
Samsung's profit hit six-year record
The combined profit of Samsung's four factories in Vietnam reached US$4.21 billion in the first nine months of 2023, the highest since 2017, according to Samsung Electronics.
The profit increase was attributed to strong sales of high-end mobile phones and high demand for display products. In the same period, its four factories generated $47.5 billion in revenue.
Vietnam among top 23 exporters
Vietnam's key export sectors maintained leading positions in the national export revenues, making the country one of the world's 23 largest exporters, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
In the first 11 months of 2023, there were 33 commodities with sales exceeding $1 billion each, accounting for 93.1% of total export turnover (including seven items with exports exceeding $10 billion, accounting for 66%).
Vietnam - Hau Giang International Rice Festival 2023 runs until mid-December
The Vietnam - Hau Giang International Rice Festival 2023, with the theme "The Thousand Year Journey of Vietnamese Rice", will run until December 15. It includes a series of activities such as exhibitions, conferences, workshops on "Vietnamese Rice Journey", and "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) products from provinces and cities nationwide, rice industry chain, and related seminars.
The festival aims to showcase Vietnam's thousands of years of rice civilization.
Vietnam pledges to support African countries in food security
Vietnam is willing to contribute to the expansion of South-South cooperation and help African countries achieve food security and move towards sustainable development and green growth, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said on December 12.
He said Vietnam has helped 12 African countries increase their rice production by 2-4 times over the past 27 years. Among the countries benefiting from a partnership with Vietnam are Mozambique, Senegal, Mali, and Congo.
