The demand for returning home among overseas Vietnamese in those countries and territories is very large, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Eariler, the Vietnamese side talked with aviation authorities of Japan, South Korea, Taiwan (China), China, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos on resuming flights to Vietnam for the repatriation of more than 140,000 overseas Vietnamese.

The CAAV proposed four incoming flights from each of the above destinations per week. Outbound flights from Vietnam will abide by current regulations.

The demand for returning home among overseas Vietnamese is very large, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In such the context, CAAV Director Dinh Viet Thang said local airlines are assessing the demand to increase flight frequency to some large international markets such as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan (China) so as to diversify the choices for passengers with more reasonable prices.

The CAAV added some airlines have failed to use up the number of flights allotted to them in some markets, such as the US, Cambodia, and Laos. “It is reasonable to reduce the flights to those markets and increase the frequency in others with high demand,” the document noted.

In addition, as overseas Vietnamese in Europe and Australia wanted to have a direct flight to Vietnam to celebrate Tet holidays, within the framework of the plan in the second phase, the CAAV also requested the Ministry of Transport’s permission to keep negotiating with partners on bringing passengers to Vietnam from France, Germany, Russia and Australia with a frequency of seven flights per week from each market.
