The delegation, led by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, includes representatives from local tourism departments, the Hanoi Promotion Agency, and travel firms.
It plans to organise a press conference to introduce visitors to Vietnam’s tourism market, participate in the organising board’s activities, and have working sessions with international partners, including the ITB organising board and TUI Group--the world’s leading tourism group.
The ITB Berlin is the world's largest tourism trade fair. The companies represented at the fair include hotels, tourist boards, tour operators, system providers, airlines and car rental companies.
In 2012, about 7,000 journalists attended the ITB Berlin, of whom about 1,500 came from abroad. In addition to the industry's leading trade magazines, business and travel journalists from 94 countries report on the latest travel trends and products. 11,000 exhibitors from 180 countries welcomed 170,000 visitors, and among these were 113,000 trade visitors, according to ITB Berlin’s management report.
ITB Berlin 2018 is expected to attract more than 10,000 exhibitors from over 180 countries and welcome over 160,000 visitors. From March 13-15, Vietnam will attend the Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition in Russia’s capital city.
Vietnam welcomed more than 2.86 million foreign visitors in the first two months of 2018, surging 29.7% over the same period last year. Of the arrivals, 2.12 million came from Asian countries, up 35.8% from last year, according to the General Statistics Office.
In the first half of 2017, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) revealed the world’s top 10 fastest-growing tourist destinations, with Vietnam in 6th position. The UNWTO described Vietnam as not a stranger to tourism with long-standing history, culture, rich cuisine and natural attractions.
