Thu Minh 11:22, 2015/07/23
Deputy Head of the Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Trung said on July 22, permission for importing three Australian fruits including oranges, tangerines and grapes is expected to be given on August 1.
Trung noted that Australia has conducted sufficient technical procedures and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is making the final steps for providing the approval, adding that the production, processing and preservation of these fruits meet Vietnam’s plant quarantine standards.

The two sides are completing legal frameworks, especially those regarding import conditions, to enable other products to enter each others’ market, Trung added.
The ministry has halted the import of 38 Australian fruits since January 1, 2015 as the country was experiencing a fruit fly outbreak.
