Vietnam parliament’s 1st plenary to discuss personnel work

All lawmakers will get Covid-19 jabs before the session, which is scheduled on July 20.

Vietnam’s National Assembly (NA), the country’s highest legislative body, will discuss personnel work in the half of 11 days of its first plenary session that is slated for July 20.

The meeting, the 1st of the NA in the 2021-2026 tenure, will elect and approve the country’s top leaders namely President, Chairperson of the NA, Prime Minister, Vice President, deputy PMs, Cabinet members, members of the NA’s Standing Committee, among others.

“It requires scientific time scheduling with priority given to personnel,” according to the NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

In the last sitting of the 2016-2021 term held from March 24 to April 8, lawmakers elected 25 top positions, including the aforementioned ones.

At the upcoming session, lawmakers will also discuss financial plans, and public investment, borrowing, and payment of public debts for the 2021-2025 period, the NA’s General Secretary Bui Van Cuong said on June 14.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will present a socio-economic report at the opening session.

To ensure the safety of the in-person sitting, all lawmakers will get Covid-19 vaccine shots. Vaccination and testing will be offered to other staff working at the NA delegations and the NA Hall in Hanoi, and reporters covering the session as well.
