Vietnamese enterprise inaugurates plastic filler factory in Egypt

European Plastics JSC, a Ha Nam-based company, inaugurated its factory in Sadat City, Menoufaya Province, Egypt on January 15, marking the first time a Vietnamese factory has been set up in the African country.

The factory will be capable of producing 300,000 tons of filler masterbatch, a substance used in the plastics industry, and will create around 300 jobs for local people. With a total investment of US$30 million, the plant will target customers in Egypt and other African countries, the Middle East region, Europe, and the Americas.

Trung Tu residential area to become 48-storey complex

Dong Da District authorities plan to redevelop the Trung Tu residential area into a 48-storey complex housing more than 12,000 people. The plan includes apartment buildings, townhouses, villas, and public services such as kindergartens, schools, parks and landscaping, training grounds, and car parks.

The 12-hectare Trung Tu residential area was built from 1972 to 1975, consisting of 29 apartment blocks of 4-5 stories and nearly 120 private houses. The old apartments in the area have deteriorated significantly in recent years.

All Vietnamese interns in Ishikawa Prefecture safe

The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan announced on January 15 that all Vietnamese interns in Ishikawa Prefecture are safe following an earthquake that struck the country's central region earlier this month.

According to the embassy, Japanese government agencies will provide necessaries for expatriates living in the country, including Vietnamese. They will also receive support to continue their jobs or find new ones during the recovery period.

Vietnam among the world's top remittance recipients

Vietnam is one of the world's top 10 remittances recipients, said Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, on January 15. She said remittances to Vietnam from 1993 to 2023 are estimated at around US$204 billion.

There are now about six million Vietnamese living in other countries. Of the total, about 600,000 overseas Vietnamese hold bachelor's degrees.

Vietnamese container shipping line joins forces with leading Korean logistics company

Vietnam Container Shipping Joint Stock Corporation (VSC) and Han Express Vietnam Company Limited have established a joint logistics venture. The new company will focus on warehouse development and provide logistics solutions to FDI companies in Vietnam.

Han Express Vietnam is the local branch of South Korea's top five logistics company Han Express, specializing in fuel transportation and refrigerated shipping.

Two weeks for Vietnamese exports to reach Europe: Kazakh ambassador

A fully developed railway network between Vietnam, Kazakhstan and China could allow Vietnamese goods to reach European markets in two weeks, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Vietnam Kanat Tumysh said on January 15.

According to the ambassador, Kazakhstan wants to work with Vietnam to improve the cross-country railway to better connect Vietnamese localities and exporters with partners in Kazakhstan, the Caucasus region and Europe via Kunming city in China's Yunnan province.
