Vietnamese festival in Tokyo strengthens bilateral ties

The opening of the Vietnam Festival in Tokyo, Japan, on April 6 was an expression of solidarity between the two nations. The festival also aims to honor the Vietnamese community for helping the community and locals during difficult times, especially after the recent Ishikawa earthquake, with the theme "Pray for Japan."

Seventeen pavilions will be set up at the festival, offering locals and foreigners the opportunity to enjoy Vietnamese culinary delights. About 80,000 visitors are expected to attend the festival, which ends today (April 7).

Fair opened to raise funds for islanders, soldiers

The Vietnamese Student Community in France (UEVF) held a charity fair on April 6 to raise funds for those who reside on islands and protect the country's territorial sovereignty. Items sold at the fair included used clothing, books, toys, and stationery. Participants can also sign their names on the Vietnamese national flag, which will be displayed in the hall on Truong Sa Island.

Proceeds from the fair will be used to purchase water purifiers and seeds for people and soldiers living on Truong Sa and Hoang Sa islands.

Vietnamese to enjoy five-day holiday later this month

Vietnamese people will have a five-day national vacation to celebrate National Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1). According to an agreement between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Vietnamese people will start their break on Saturday (April 27) and resume work on Thursday (May 2).

Hanoi to hold meeting to improve performance of high-tech park

Hanoi will hold a meeting with businesses and government agencies in April to discuss solutions to further develop the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park. The park was established in October 1998 and is located in Hanoi's Thach That District. Management of the park was transferred to Hanoi's government after being run by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The park hosts 111 projects, including 15 foreign-invested enterprises, with a total capital of VND111.5 trillion (US$4.5 billion).

Thua Thien Hue approves 11 investment projects

On April 6, the Thua Thien Hue provincial government issued investment permits for 11 projects with a total capital of VND9.13 trillion ($373 million). The projects include the Chan May Logistics Center to be built in the Chan May Seaport area, the Creanza Hi-Tech Quartz Plant, the FPT Education Complex, and the Hue International Hospital.

The province also approved the development plans of 10 other projects with a total capital of VND113.5 trillion (US$4.6 billion).
