Prime Minister hopes Lao Cai's resettlement sites to become happy villages
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his hope that Nu, Nam Tong, and Kho Vang villages in the northern province of Lao Cai, which were severely damaged by Typhoon No. 3 (Yagi), would become models of happy villages during the inauguration of the resettlement project on December 22. The project, completed ahead of schedule, constructed 90 houses, including 40 two-story stilt houses in Nu Village, 15 houses in Nam Tong Village, and 35 houses in Kho Vang Village.

Ho Chi Minh City launches Metro Line 1

Ho Chi Minh City launched Metro Line 1 in December, connecting Ben Thanh and Suoi Tien. Spanning 19.7 km, with a total investment of VND43.8 trillion (US$1.9 billion). Each train can carry 930 passengers, with ticket prices ranging from VND6,000 to VND20,000 (US$0.2 to US$0.8). Free rides are offered for the first 30 days. The metro aims to alleviate traffic congestion and pollution in the city.

Public access to Viettel booths extended because of increased demand

Vietnam Defence Expo 2024 extends public access to select Viettel booths, including shooting and AI technology, until December 23. Initially set to close on December 22, this extension follows high public interest, with 100,000 visitors recorded on December 21. The exhibition, offering free entry, ensures absolute safety and optimal conditions for attendees, featuring military achievements, cultural spaces, and food services.

Kien Giang boosts industrial and export goals with strategic measures

The southern province of Kien Giang targets industrial production value of US$2.57 billion by 2025, a 10% increase, and export revenue of $1.07 billion, up 7% from 2024. Key measures include streamlining regulations, supporting businesses, and advancing industrial infrastructure. Focus areas include major industrial parks and strengthening export markets, aiming for sustainable growth despite global economic challenges.

Celebrations highlight military traditions and foster patriotism

The “Military-Civilian Culture Festival” is now underway at Nguyen Hue Walking Street in Ho Chi Minh City, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army (December 22, 1944-December 22, 2024) and the 35th All-People’s National Defense Day (December 22, 1989-December 22, 2024). Highlights included military band performances, martial arts demonstrations, and youth dances. The event showcased Vietnam’s heroic military traditions, promoting patriotism and strengthening the bond between the army and the people
