Vietnam will do its best so that no patient will die from Covid-19, Kinh Te & Do Thi quoted Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam as saying at an online meeting with hospitals about coronavirus treatment on July 28.

The meeting was conducted through videoconferencing with participation from the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City Tropical Hospital, the Central Lung Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Danang General Hospital, Vietnam - Sweden Hospital, Dong Nai Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, and the Danang Department of Health.

According to reports by Danang Hospital on the treatment for Covid-19 patients, it has channelized the patients to ensure isolation of Covid-19 infected people.

At present, Bach Mai Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital are actively supporting Danang Hospital to channelize patients, isolate and supervise infected cases, carry out positive resuscitation for critically ill patients. Besides good doctors, Danang Hospital also receives support on modern medical machines and equipment such as extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machines, ventilators, among others.

To ensure treatment capacity, the Danang authorities have urgently set up a Covid-19 treatment center at Danang Lung Hospital for patients with the first Covid-19 symptoms.

The Hue Central Hospital has prepared facilities for receiving severe Covid-19 patients in Danang, especially those with many pre-exisiting diseases and hemodialysis.

Understanding difficulties of healthcare workers, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam asked the Ministry of Health to mobilize forces and use testing technologies to find the sources of Covid-19 transmission as soon as possible.

“We are not surprised by developments of Covid-19 in Danang but in the anti-pandemic fight, we always have to anticipate the bad scenarios, including the worst one, to make it unlikely," Dam said.

The deputy PM stressed that regulations and guidelines on epidemic prevention have been detailed. All hospitals nationwide must be ready to prevent and fight the pandemic in their own locations and support others if necessary.

Dam also asked hospitals to raise awareness, seriously ensure the protocol when receiving people for medical examination and treatment.

At the time of writing, Vietnam has confirmed 438 Covid-19 positive cases, of them 369 have been cured and 69 are being treated. No deaths have been reported. One 57-year-old man in Danang with several existing diseases is on life support.
