Vietnam invited to attend high level dialogue on Indo-Pacific cooperation
Vietnam is the first country visited by the special envoy of Indonesia`s foreign minister.
Jose Tavares, special envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia and director general of ASEAN Cooperation, conveyed an invitation letter from Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Retno Marsudi to his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Binh Minh, to attend the High Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation in Jakarta on March 20.
The High Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation towards a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive region (HLD-IPC) will be held in Jakarta on March 20, 2019. The dialogue is expected to be a dynamic and interactive platform for deeper and inclusive collaboration between stakeholders in the Indian and Pacific Ocean regions. The high-level dialogue will be chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Retno L.P. Marsudi and ministers and high level officials from 17 countries: Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Russia, Thailand, the US and Vietnam.
Director General of ASEAN Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Jose Tavares said the HLD is aimed at further complementing and strengthening ASEAN's efforts in shaping the Indo-Pacific region by promoting ASEAN principles to a wider region.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam To Anh Dung welcomed the plan for implementing the HLD and appreciated Indonesia's leadership in ASEAN.
