Vietnam International Travel Mart 2017 to promote Hanoi's image
The Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2017, themed “Hanoi - Destination of Vietnam”, will take place from April 6-9 at the International Exhibition Centre, No.91 Tran Hung Dao street, in Hanoi, according to the organising board.
The capital of Hanoi is the country's tourist center, and is considered to be among leading destinations in the region.
In 2016, the city's tourism sector saw impressive results in terms of arrivals and revenue. During the year, Hanoi welcomed more than 4 million international tourists, up 22.6% over the same period in 2015 while the domestic visitors to the city reached 21.8 million arrivals, up 10.7% over the same period in 2015. The city gained the revenue of 62, 329 billion VND from tourism industry, up 13% compared to a year ago.
In the reviewed period, the municipal tourism sector introduced some exciting new products such as: the Hanoi Memories programme, the "Emotion of Hanoi" tour, the pilot of opening more walking area around Hoan Kiem Lake and Vietnam`s Ao dai space. These products have promoted the city's tourism development and competitiveness, while contributing to help the sector achieving impressive results in 2016.
Hanoi's tourism industry is expected to create breakthroughs in both domestic and international market this year.
Therefore, “Hanoi - Destination of Vietnam” is chosen as the theme of VITM 2017, Deputy Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Association, Head of the fair's organising board Vu The Binh shared with a reporter of the Economis and Urban Newspaper.
At present, the capital of Hanoi owns many potentials to attract more international tourists, Binh noted.
The VITM 2017 is expected to feature 600 enterprises and tourism management and promotion agencies from 43 cities and provinces nationwide and 25 countries and territories. The fair hopes to attract some 60,000 visitors.
Beside organising activities to promote destination presentation and tourism stimulation from local exhibitors, the VITM also offers contests, traditional arts performances, conferences and workshops.
Organized the first time in 2013, the 5th VITM is considered Vietnam’s premier tourism event and one of the largest travel shows in the region.
Last year, Vietnam welcomed more than 10 million international arrivals, up 26 per cent year-on-year, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.
The demand for outbound travel in Vietnam has increased dramatically. In 2016, there were more than 6.5 million Vietnamese people travelling overseas, an increase of 15 per cent year-on-year.
The VITM 2017 will not only provide thousands of promotional tour packages and low-cost air tickets, it will also bring the best opportunities to foreign tour operators and providers to promote destinations and seek new business deals.
The event will be also a good opportunity for Hanoi's green economy to attract more tourists as well as domestic and international strategic investors.
The VITM 2017 is extremely significant when Hanoi is making best efforts to reach the target of turning its tourism industry intioo a key economic sector by 2020.
