Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards 2017 kicks off

On July 10, the sixth Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards contest was launched, calling for submissions from both amateur and professional photographers living in Vietnam and abroad.

Entries submitted to the contest can be either single images or photo sets. Each competitor is allowed to summit a maximum of four sets of photos and four single photos for each topic.
Photos should be sent to the organising board before September 15. Some 100 excellent photos chosen from entries submitted to the contest will be exhibited online and introduced to people in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang city. “We are considering holding an exhibition by Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem Lake to reach more tourists,” an organiser said.
The winning photos will be announced in late November. The Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards was first organised in 2012.
The annual competition, co-organised by the Vietnam Heritage Magazine and the Canon Marketing Vietnam Limited Company, aims to honour the natural and cultural heritage values of Vietnam through photos, with the main topics of nature, tangible and intangible cultures, and market life.
In 2012, The Vietnam Heritage magazine and HCMC’s Cultural Heritage Association and Canon Marketing has announced the winners of the Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards for two first prize winners - Nguyen Phung Chi for photo Khoanh khac Ha Long (Halong Bay moment) and Nguyen Na Son for photo essay Tay Nguyen Mau Xam (the Central Highlands in grey). In addition, twenty other prizes were also awarded.
Accordingly, the competition in 2012 attracted over 2,890 works and had a judging panel consisting of Le Thanh Hai, editor-in-chief of the Vietnam Heritage magazine. After the awards ceremony, the best 100 photos were chosen to be put on display at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum at 65 Ly Tu Trong in District 1 until November 30.
