Vietnam, France to enhance cultural cooperation
Vietnam and France have agreed to further expand cultural cooperation comprehensively via a newly-signed agreement between The Institute of Cultural Exchange with France (IDECAF) and Institute of France in Vietnam (IFV).
The two institutes signed the 2018-2020 cooperation during the 21st meeting of the Vietnam-France Joint Committee on June 22.
The meeting, as part of activities celebrating 45th year of France-Vietnam ties, was an important event with the presence of French Ambassador Bertrand Lortholary and Dinh Toan Thang, Head of Europe Department, under Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
Established in 1982 under the MoFA, IDECAF is a special bridge of France in culture cooperation, focusing on teaching French language, screening French films and organizing art performance programs.
In recent years, IDECAF has played an important role in promoting people-to-people exchanges, becoming one of the major centers for Vietnam-France cultural exchange in the South of Vietnam. IDECAF welcomes nearly 7,000 French learners annually, 70% of which are students.
The cooperation agreement signed between IDECAF and IFV aims to reinforce the cultural ties in all aspects, among which some new cooperation forms will be carried out. Both sides pledged to join hands in installing more audiovisual devices in IDECAF’s theatre auditorium, organizing a renovation festival in October 2018 and supporting IDECAF in recruiting French teachers and trainees.
