The event aims to promote the image of Vietnam as an attractive destination for tourists around the world after a two-year hiatus from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Vietnam Days in the United Kingdom (UK) 2022 was officially launched on March 28 in London and will run until April 10, featuring a series of cultural, art, sport and trade-investment promotion events.

The Vietnam Days is being organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in the UK, in collaboration with organizations and enterprises of both countries, to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s enthronement, her platinum jubilee.

According to Vietnam News Agency, activities during the Vietnam Days will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation in diverse fields, including cultural exchange, education and training, green transformation, renewable energy, financial technology, entrepreneurship, innovation, among others.

It also aims at promoting Vietnam as an attractive destination for tourists around the world in the context that the country has reopened its borders to international visitors since March 15 after about two years of closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The highlights of the event will be a music show entitled “Beautiful Vietnam”, painting exhibitions, investment and travel forums, and a friendly golf tournament on March 31 in London.

Moreover, there will also be an education forum and a workshop for Vietnam-UK startup cooperation that will take place in Cambridge on April 5.

Given the thriving relations between the two countries, Vietnam has become an increasingly attractive destination to British investors and enterprises.

In his opening remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Hoang Long highlighted the strong development of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and the UK before recalling Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit to the UK in 2021 and his participation in the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, which was regarded a milestone in the development of bilateral relations.

The diplomat affirmed that Vietnam’s commitment made at COP26 to achieve the goal of neutralizing emissions by 2030 at COP26 has been positively welcomed by the international community, especially in the UK.

During PM Chinh's visit, 30 agreements were signed with a total value of more than US$30 billion, marking a new step in economic cooperation between the two countries.

Long noted that with these commitments, as of November 2021, Vietnam has attracted many green investment and financing pledges from leading economic groups in the UK and the world, which has led to the emergence of a wave of green investment in Vietnam.

The Vietnam Days in the UK 2022 are expected to further promote Vietnam’s natural landscapes, culture, people and great development potential in the UK and open more opportunities for taking the bilateral partnership to a new height.

Vietnam and the UK are looking forward to celebrating their 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023.
