Vietnam aims to promote trade ties with Chile, Canada: PM
As Vietnam, Chile and Canada are parties to the CPTPP, the room for further trade remains huge.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked the ambassadors of Chile and Canada to Vietnam to work for a boost in respective trade between Vietnam with the two nations as the three are members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).At a reception for Chilean Ambassador Jaime Chomali Garib in Hanoi on January 29, the Vietnamese PM said Vietnam seeks to promote trade ties with Chile as the two countries have yet to tap full potential..

Although two-way turnover has increased but has not been commensurate with the two countries’ potential, both sides need to promote more trade and investment cooperation, the PM added. For example, Vietnam has many mobile manufacturers, and is ready to export to Chile a large number of these items.
For his part, Chilean Ambassador Chomali Garib said that Vietnam is now the second largest phone provider, supplying the largest amount of frozen catfish and goods to Chile.
The ambassador suggested that in the coming time, Vietnamese enterprises will promote investment cooperation in Chile and vice versa. The Chilean government is also very interested in promoting cooperation in entrepreneurship and space.

The PM expressed his desire that Deborah Anne Paul will make efforts for the two sides to keep promoting trade ties.
Phuc suggested Canadian businesses learn about Vietnam’s market and investment cooperation in the country to do business here.
For her part, Ambassador Deborah Anne Paul agreed that trade and investment cooperation is a priority in relations between the two countries and needs to be promoted in the time ahead.
