US$200 million for solving sludge waste in Hanoi
A US$200-million memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Hanoi authority and the joint venture of AquaOne - Aone Deutschland (Germany) during the conference “Hanoi 2018 – Investment and Development Cooperation” last weekend.
As part of the MoU, the Vietnamese firms and its German partner will construct a sludge waste-treatment plant of high technology that will have a treatment capacity of 2,000-2,500 tons per day in Hanoi and cost about US$200 million.
Member of the Supervisory Board of Aone Deutschland AG, Christophe Hug said the group aims to focus on projects that can generate new sources of renewable material and clean energy for the city, among other environmental benefits.
The German representative hailed Hanoi's openess to foreign investment. Hanoi is a fast-growing city with top priority for investment attraction, he stressed.
However, environmental projects face much challenges while being carried out in the city. This kind of project costs much and demands the advanced technology to ensure enviromental standards, he said.
Hence, the city authority should take more measures to encourage foreign firms in the area. They can adopt more policies to ensure financial commitment for foreign investors, Christophe Hug noted.
With projects calling for investment, everything should be clear, he said.
