US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink made the statement in a meeting with Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh on March 18.

At the meeting, Kritenbrink expressed his thanks for the local authorities’ support for the US Embassy’s construction plan of a new headquarter, which is expected to be built soon in the city's Cau Giay district.

The ambassador expected the city’s leaders to create favorable conditions for the US Peace program in Vietnam, which was signed by both parties in 2016, as well as facilitating US families in making procedures to adopt Vietnamese children.

Kritenbrink thanked Hanoi People’s Committee and police in putting an end to the sexual harassment of foreign women in Tay Ho district, saying this will build trust and ensure security for foreigners living in the city.

On his part, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh said the strong relations between Hanoi and US cities are contributing to overall bilateral relationship.

He also called for more investment from US enterprises in priority fields of transportation, healthcare, energy and smart city.

Anh, on behalf of the city’s leaders, sent his congratulation to 46th US President Joe Biden, expecting the Vietnam-US relations would continue to improve in the coming time.

“Hanoi will boost its relations with the US to better realize development potentials between the two sides,” Anh added.

Regarding the sexual harassment in Tay Ho, Anh said the city has acted quickly to protect the capital’s image in the eyes of foreigners.

He stated the city welcomes US Peace program and US families in adopting Vietnamese children, saying that the city is fully committed to addressing any problem hampering these programs.

Anh also noted Hanoi would create favorable conditions for the construction of new headquarter for US Embassy as soon as possible.
