Thousands of people attend K-Food Fair in Hanoi
Thousands of people attended the K-Food Fair held at the My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi on June 9.
The K-Food Fair, organized by South Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korean Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, was part of activities meant to promote trade and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and South Korea in 2018.
Festival goers enjoyed traditional South Korean food, dance and music. Together with hundreds of South Korean dishes, the fair featured a cuisine contest and games for visitors, such as speed eating and guessing the names of dishes, as well as a lucky draw.
In addition, a K-Pop contest and musical performances by famous singers and artists from South Korea and Vietnam, including South Korean singer Hyuna and the Highlight band and Vietnam’s 2015 The Voice winner Duc Phuc was held for fans of the East Asian country culture.
The head coach of Vietnam’s U23 men’s football team, South Korean national Park Hang Seo, who led them to second place in the U23 Asia Cup 2018 for the first time, was presented on June 9 as a brand ambassador of South Korean cuisine.
“Vietnam is always an ideal place for South Korean tourists because the Southeast Asian country has impressive scenery, delicious food, friendly and hospitable people,” Keum Gi Hyung, Director of the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam was quoted as saying.
In recently years, Korean travelers are flocking to Vietnam; for instance, in 2015, one million Korean tourists visited the Southeast Asian country and the number of tourists in Vietnam reached 2.4 million in 2017.
In the first three months of 2018, Vietnam received 900,000 South Korean holidaymakers. Accordingly, South Korea is becoming one of Vietnam’s major tourist markets.
