Software copyright infringement in Vietnam in 2007 decreased 3%, according to the fifth annual research study on software copyright piracy carried out by the Business Software Alliance (BSA).

In the global downtrend, the software copyright piracy in Vietnam fell from 88% in 2006 to 85% in 2007 thanks to the outstanding growth of the PC market and the change in the monetary market.
Of 108 countries in BSA’s research, 64 countries saw reductions in software copyright violations (for personal computer) and only 11 countries had an increase. However, as the PC markets of countries with the highest piracy rates had the highest growth rates, the global software copyright infringement rate increased 3% to 38% last year.
In Asia, the countries with the highest rates include: Bangladesh (92%), Vietnam (85%) China (82%), Indonesia and Pakistan (84%), and Sri Lanka (90%).
