It is scheduled that BRG - Sumitomo joint venture will start the construction of the smart city project along Nhat Tan - Noi Bai road with the investment of US$4 billion in October 2018.
Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Urban Development and Planning Association, Dr. Dao Ngoc Nghiem, assessed that the construction of the smart city along Nhat Tan - Noi Bai road has become an opportunity to boost the capital’s development.

This is a route for international guests from Noi Bai Airport to feel another Hanoi’s extremity. It is not only the capital with the history of the old city, but also the modern city ready to integrate, Nghiem said.

Recently, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have been recognized as two cities speeding towards smart cities in ASEAN in the time ahead. For the above-mentioned reasons, it is completely reasonable to build the mega smart city along Nhat Tan - Noi Bai road, he added.

With smart cities, it is necessary to look at the factors in common. It is not just the convergence of new technologies or connectivity technologies, but also the existence of smart space. Meanwhile, the old Hanoi center, in the south of Red River, has developed steadily and is difficult to renovate embellishment into smart space, Nghiem stressed.

The route of Vo Nguyen Giap on both sides of Nhat Tan bridge is very convenient, with the expectation of smart space creation, convenience for transportation connection and locals' life when the social and technical infrastructure is synchronized, he added.

Hanoi’s residents can expect that when the project is completed, Hanoi will have the most worth-living urban area, overcoming its weaknesses in planning by applying advances of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Nghiem said.

He also emphasized that this urban area can become a magnet for attracting foreign investment, form high-tech financial centers, hi-tech centers for Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular to stand shoulder to shoulder with other countries.
