The visit will be made at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh, according to an announcement of Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released today [August 23].

In February 2023, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse visited Singapore, where the two prime ministers discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations this year.

On this visit, Singapore named a new orchid hybrid after Prime Minister Chinh and his spouse "Pailionanda Pham Le Tran Chinh". The orchid, hybridized from a species of orchid in Vietnam and a species in Singapore, is a gesture that Singapore paid to honorable guests only.

Vietnam and Singapore enjoy tightened relations in which Singapore was alternatively the biggest investor in Vietnam. The two countries remain each other's top partners in the region.

Regarding economic ties, the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) are considered the signature of the partnership with a network of 13 units across Vietnam, covering more than 10,000 ha. Established in 1996, the VSIPs accommodate nearly 900 companies, pouring approximately US$18 billion from over 30 countries and territories.
